WELCOME TO MY ARCHIVES

Several people have been asking me about the availability of The Muppet Christmas Carol CD and DVD. I sang on the soundtrack and was a puppeteer and puppet coordinator of the many hundreds of Muppets in the film. Here are some good Amazon links to purchase them just in time for the holidays.

Below is a shot we did for a photo shoot with Michael Caine as Scrooge.

This is from the scene where Scrooge is shown what might be. We're all pig business men discussing the demise of Scrooge. From left to right: Mike Quinn, Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire and Jerry Nelson.

Here's the CD soundtrack with additional songs that were cut from the film:

Here's the DVD:

So I realized I needed a place to put up all my archives. Well here it is!
Let's start with this piece below and if it's popular, I'll add plenty more.

"JIM HENSON'S THE GHOST OF FAFFNER HALL"

Jim.faffnerhall
This was a 13 part series using entertainment to teach music principles shot in the late 1980's. In the USA it aired on HBO and in the UK on ITV.

My regular character was Riff (seen on the left), one of the music loving occupants of Faffner Hall.

Some of the highlights of this show were the fact that Richard Hunt (Scooter/Beaker/Statler/Sweetums) had a main character, we got to use much of the supporting puppet cast from years of The Muppet Show and we got to play, sing and hang out with so many talented musicians. Working with music has always been one of the most fun aspects of Muppet work.

In honor of Thomas Dolby's current tour and new DVD and CD, here's some behind the scenes pictures and video of a rare scene from one of the episodes he appeared in. Being a fan I was very fortunate that the producer Jocelyn Stevenson indulged me and got him on the show. How cool is that? Of course he was great fun to work with and he didn't seem to mind me being a fan geek too much. Although the scene was broken up into about three segments for shooting, I seem to recall after rehearsing we got everything in no more than two takes. What a pair of pro's eh? Oh and we both sang live on set, no pre-records or anything like that! I remember during the end of one take (the one we didn't use) having the fly ad-lib some joke (maybe about flies and doggie poop?) and cracking him up. Ahhh those were the days........
